Every program we run exists because of a real need — and every dollar donated creates a real outcome. These are just a few of the stories that remind us why this work matters.
"I was the first in my family to go to college. Without the LAJ Foundation scholarship, I don't know how I would have made it through. Today I'm a registered nurse — and I'm giving back to my community every single day."
Amara grew up in a single-parent household in Atlanta. Despite graduating at the top of her high school class, the cost of college felt out of reach. The LAJ Foundation scholarship covered two years of her nursing program, allowing her to graduate debt-free and begin her career in healthcare.
"When the harvest failed, we had nothing. The LAJ Foundation came with food, supplies, and hope. They treated us with dignity — like we mattered. Because of them, our children did not go hungry."
After a difficult season left the Mensah family without enough food to last the month, LAJ Foundation partners in Ghana delivered emergency food packages and essential household supplies. The family has since stabilized and the children are back in school.
"Our roof was caving in and we couldn't afford the repairs. The LAJ Foundation stepped in and helped us restore our building — and our congregation has grown by 40% since. We can now serve our community the way God intended."
Cornerstone Community Church in Chicago's South Side had been serving its neighborhood for over 20 years, but aging infrastructure threatened to close its doors. LAJ Foundation provided a grant that funded critical building repairs, allowing the church to continue and expand its community outreach programs.
